Q> How do I sign up to be a Text2Pinas member and start taking advantage of its benefits?

A> Registration can be done directly through a Text2Pinas representative, through one of the authorized Text2Pinas dealers, or through the Text2Pinas website at www.text2pinas.com.

Once registration is complete and Text2Pinas text messaging credits is loaded and available, the new member is only a text message away from saying Hello!!! to their loved one’s in the Philippines.

Q> Are there any requirements for using the text messaging service offered by Text2Pinas?

A> The only requirement is a U.S. cellular phone with SMS or text messaging capabilities. Make sure that you have text-messaging enabled. If unsure, call your wireless provider (ie Verizon, T-Mobile, , etc.).

Q> What’s the cost of using the text messaging service offered by Text2Pinas?

A> Messages sent and received by the Text2pinas member is charged .05 cents per message (up to 140 characters). However, the overall cost is dependent on the US member’s text messaging plan.

Total cost is as follows: local cost of sending/receiving a message as specified by the “US member’s text messaging plan” + cost of “Text2Pinas” services. If you don’t have an unlimited plan, it can cost $0.10 per message.

NOTE: Many carriers offer some sort of unlimited text messaging plan for a low monthly fee. We recommend that you get a plan that suits your needs.

Q> Who pays for sending/receiving messages through Text2Pinas?

A> Only the US Text2Pinas member is charged for every message sent or received. The Philippine contact is never charged.

Philippine contact – a user authorized by the Text2Pinas member to send and receive messages through Text2Pinas. Authorization is done by adding the user’sname in the member’s list of contacts.

NOTE: Member’s can only RECEIVE messages from an authorized Philippine contact. However, member’s can SEND messages to a user not in the contact list by using a different SEND mode. Please refer the Usage and Feature’s section of the website.

Q>How do I ADD, DELETE, and MODIFY names in my list of authorized contacts?

A>Maintaining a member’s list of contacts can be done through a Text2Pinas representative, through the mobile phone, or through the website.

 If doing it through the mobile phone the command is as follows:

 To “ADD” a contact:

create a message using the following format:

 ADD “alias name” 9187362888

send the message to the specified Text2Pinas access number.

 To “DELETE” a contact:

create a message using the following format:

 DEL “alias name”

send the message to the specified Text2Pinas access number.

 To “MODIFY” existing contact information is a two step process. First

 DELETE the contact and then ADD with new information.

Q>What is an “alias name” and how many contacts can a member have?

A>An “alias name”, nickname, or contact name is the name of an authorized Philippine contact or user. A member can have as many contacts as he/she wishes. There is no limit.

NOTE: For faster texting and to optimize the size of message that can be sent or received it is advisable to keep the names as short as possible.

 Examples:

• Elizabeth beth
• Rosabel rose
• Antonio Toni

Q> How long can my text (SMS) messages be?

A> The same length allowed by your mobile phone carriers, which is 140 - 160 characters per page. However, 10 characters are used as a signature to identify the sender. The signature is tagged at the end of the message as such: ... body -- sender. Example “thanks for the chocolates -- tracy”

SMS technology … SMS messages can be a max of a 160 characters, a limitation set by the protocol or technology. Messages longer than 160 characters will be split into multiple consisting of 160 characters per page by the mobile phone carrier before its transmitted. 

Q> Where do US based Text2Pinas members send their text messages, what number?

A> All messages originating from the US must be sent to a US based access number assigned by a Text2Pinas representative specifically to a Text2Pinas member.

Q> Where do Philippine contacts send their text messages?

A> When messages sent through Text2Pinas are received by a Philippine contact, the number that will show up will be a Text2Pinas local Philippine access number.  This access number sometimes change and it is not advisable to save it in the phonebook. It is best to use the access number that showed up on the last message they received.

Q> What type of payment method does Text2Pinas accept?

A> Text2Pinas is currently accepting the following mode of payments: checks, money orders and credit cards.

Q> How do I know that my account has been credited and with the proper amount?

A> A confirmation message will be sent to your mobile phone after successfully processing your payment. The message will reflect the amount loaded and the current member’s balance. Or one can simply check the balance. To check the BALANCE do the following:

create a message with the following information:

send the message to the specified Text2Pinas access number.
